About the DS4RRS Workshop 2022

The KDD 2022 organizing committee solicits proposals for full-day and half-day workshops to be held in conjunction with the main conference. The purpose of a workshop is to provide an opportunity for participants from academia, industry, government, and other related parties to present and discuss novel ideas on current and emerging topics relevant to knowledge discovery and data mining. It is a structured means for people with common interest to form communities. The workshops are tentatively scheduled on August 14 or 18, 2022.

A brief introduction

This workshop aims to engage with active researchers from recommendation communities as well as other communities including social science communities and deliver the state-ofthe-art research insights into the core challenges in providing responsible recommendation services. To be specific, we will focus on two main topics contributing to responsible recommendations in this workshop:

  • (1) Developing reliable and trustworthy RS models and techniques to provide reliable (e.g., fair, interpretable, secure, responsible, etc.) recommendation results when facing a complex, uncertain and dynamic cyberspace which is full of threats from noise, attacks, and bias.
  • (2) Discovering and controlling the social influence of recommender systems on human’s behaviours, recognition, etc. towards sustainable and harmonious communities, societies and cultures.
